Track – Velodrome

Out door Velodrome

Fast, Exciting and Great Fun

The track, or velodrome is one of the most exciting forms of cycle sport. The bikes are different, no gears and a a fixed wheel means you can’t stop pedalling.

There are tracks dotted around the country and in the South we have a 250 meter out door track in Bournemouth and fixed wheel training and racing is held at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth. Many of the regions riders also train and race the indoor velodrome in Newport, Soutrh Wales. Now named after Wales first Tour De France winner, Geraint Thomas.

The best way to start riding the track is with organised sessions. You can find information about the Bournemouth velodrome here: Bournemouth Velodrome and Newport here: Newport Velodrome All tracks will have bikes to hire and qualified coaches to help you get started.
