Dan Coast (He/Him)

Cycle Sport Developer - South Region

I’m the Cycle Sport Developer for the South Region and I’m very much looking forward to working with everyone connected with events in our region.

My role is to help both existing and future organisers develop and refine the events in all disciplines, building on the excellent work that has be happening to create a clear and sustainable calendar of events and opportunities for all to enjoy and grow within our sport.

I joined the regional team in August 2021 following almost 8 years with Welsh Cycling as a Regional Development Officer. I had previously worked for British Cycling in the region as a Development Officer and regional Go-Ride coach, so I’m looking forward to re-acquainting with the many volunteers who are still supporting the sport today – and of course supporting the newer people who are vital to the success of cycling in the region.

I’m a keen “every day” cyclist nowadays riding for pleasure and for transport. I’m a Level 2 coach with specialisms in BMX, Road, and Track Cycling. I have been involved in the organising committee of a number of National level events to the North of the region. I have previously competed in all disciplines (with varying degrees of success), though Downhill MTB is the one that I’m yet to take part in.

Within the region I’ve organised events, coached as part of the Talent programme and supported the regions young riders at a number of UK School Games and interregional competitions.

I’m looking forward to seeing what new opportunities we can create within the region to “refresh” what cycle events offer riders, so I’m very keen to hear from perspective event organisers who are either looking to create something that’s new, or events that have more of a festival feel to them that can cater for the whole family.
