Cotswold League

TTT to start the Cotswold League 2017

Welcome to the Cotswold Cycle Racing League

Known more locally as simply ‘The Cotswold League’. Established in the late 1980’s the league was set up to enable riders in the Cotswolds to race on a weekly basis during the Summer.

2013 saw a complete re-vamp of the Cotswold League, with the increase in the number of mid-week circuit races and the decrease in the number of events on the open road, the Cotswold League tried to address this issue. From 2013 all Cotswold League races now take place at the weekend, running under British Cycling regulations and being open to 2nd, 3rd and 4th category riders only. Because of this the handicapping system has now been removed. With the help of BC we’re also able to place riders further down the field, so will be adjusting the CCRL points awarded accordingly.

During the season, each member club promotes an event. There are typically around 12 race days per calendar season, with some days offering Women’s only events also. Each race is features Accredited Marshals, NEGs and Prize Giving.

For 2015 we welcome four new member clubs to the Cotswold League – and with them three brand new events onto the calendar. All the 2015 events are now live on the British Cycling website – and can be entered using their on-line entry system. Please note however, entry priority will be given to riders of member clubs.

The 2015 Cotswold Cycle Racing League will consist of 10 events, with riders best point score in six races counting towards the overall league placing. The league leader will be identified during the course of the league by the green ‘leaders’ jersey that will be awarded at the end of every race.

The team prize will be awarded to the team with the most points, based on the combined total of their top five riders in the overall league standings.

  • All events are run under British Cycling regulations.
  • All events are single stage road races, for 2nd, 3rd and 4th cat riders only.
  • Events are open to everyone, not just league members – but only riders from promoting clubs receive points towards the overall league result.

The Cotswold League also has a Facebook page, please can all riders log on to this and sign up – even if you don’t want to give too many details to Facebook! This will allow details and updates of events to be sent to you, as well as holding up-to-date results and pictures etc

The Cotswold League is now sponsored by Steele Davis who are providing the leaders jerseys.

Please support the league sponsor wherever possible, and make sure you mention the league to them when contacting them.
