Local Leagues, The Easy Way to Start Racing

The simplest way to start racing, in any discipline is to take part in any of teh south Region’s local Leagues. These regular races mean the environment is familiar and generally the level of competition is ‘regional’ rather than ‘national’  We are lucky in the South to hae leagues for ropad racing, track, BMX, Mountain biking and Cyclo Cross. There are events for all categories and quite a few designed specifically to encourage women cyclists to start racing.

Castle Combe is the longest standing, held during the summer on Thursday nights, there is racing for youth riders and 4th cats to Elites. At Odd Down near Bath there are specific veterans and women’s events as well as all senior categories. Throughout the winter Odd Down hosts a series of training races.

The Cotswold League races take place in the summer for men and women and are on open road circuits to the north of the region. Summer and winter cyclo-cross as well as the Western Mountainbike league.
